About the role
Mater Speech Pathology is currently seeking applications for a passionate Paediatric Speech Pathologist to join our team on 12 month maximum term, Part-Time basis working 15 hours per week.

The role is required to deliver evidence based paediatric speech pathology clinical services to infants and young children as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be work in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, working predominantly with infants and children with feeding difficulties.

Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing
The successful candidate will:

  • Analyse and interpret clinical information to differentially diagnose swallowing and feeding disorders and optimally manage these conditions.
  • Inform decision making and clinical judgements necessary for design and implementation of appropriate evidenced-based therapeutic management of patients with feeding disorders to achieve positive outcomes in relation to patient, family and organisational goals (e.g. patient flow)
  • Deliver routine speech pathology clinical services commensurate with clinical knowledge and skill to assess, diagnose and provide intervention to neonates, infants and children with feeding and swallowing difficulties.
  • Undertake clinical decision-making and judgements necessary for design and implementation of appropriate evidence-based interventions.
  • Integrate knowledge of contemporary evidence-based clinical assessment procedures and intervention approaches and techniques to:
  • Work within speech pathology and multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic client and family centred care.
  • Actively develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise by maintaining and contributing to ongoing professional development as it relates to the clinical activities and responsibilities of the position and the organisation.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills with a focus on efficiency
  • Manage information with accurate documentation of clinical and non-clinical activity
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research as required
  • Participate in regular supervision and mentoring.

About you
To be successful within this role you will have the following:

  • Hold at least a tertiary degree qualification in Speech Pathology
  • Have a current membership or be eligible to become a Practising Membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Hold a Blue card.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of neonatal, infant and paediatric feeding disorders, and skills in bottle and breast feeding
  • Experience in working with children undergoing tube wean interventions (desirable)
  • Understanding of neurodevelopmental and family centred care protocols
  • A commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based practice and ongoing learning
  • Strong communication, time management and teamwork skills
