The Practice Leader (Mental Health) key responsibilities are:
- Provide evidence-based advice, coaching and mentoring to Senior Team Leaders, Managers, Senior Practitioners, Practice Leaders and other relevant stakeholders to deliver a program of work with a focus on improving the quality of the casework and outcomes for children and young people in the child protection system, particularly those impacted by mental illness.
- Build and sustain strong collaborative partnerships that promote and support the integration and coordination of service delivery.
- Identify and brief senior management, and respond to key partners, on emerging operational and strategic issues for children and young people who have mental health issues.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends and issues, consider systemic issues and the relationship between multiple performance measures in terms of the impact on service to clients.
- Lead the development of capability across the state in areas of portfolio responsibility (Mental Health) and facilitate the development of communities of practice and other learning forums.
- Implement quality assurance mechanisms that support the monitoring and continuous improvement of services to children, young people, their families and carers, with a focus on mental illness.
- Develop enduring and productive service delivery partnerships to support service delivery outcomes, enhance cross-sectoral participation, training and development, and state-wide delivery and coordination of child protection services.
- Establish and maintain systems, practices and standards to ensure effective coordination and delivery of services.
- Manage multiple projects including implementation as part of the on-going reform and renewal agenda.
- Contribute to the capability of staff in strength-based practice and appreciative inquiry to assist in the delivery of quality advice and services about mental health and its impacts in the child protection context.
