Randstad are currently seeking a Technical Officer - Central Stores to backfill a key staff member during their long service leave for an initial 3 month assignment. This role plays a pivotal part in maintaining operational excellence within our technical stores, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and the safe, effective support of laboratory and workspace functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the technical stores, including the handling and distribution of deliveries, consumables, and equipment
  
  
• Maintain inventory using inventory/warehouse management software
  
  
• Manage chemical storage, handling, and safety documentation
  
  
• Provide expert advice and support for STEM teaching and research activities
  
  
• Coordinate procurement and purchase orders in accordance with institutional procedures
  
  
• Ensure workspaces operate within OH&S and compliance frameworks
  
  
• Deliver excellent customer service to academic and professional staff
  
  

About You:

• Experience in a scientific or technical store, lab or warehouse environment
  
  
• Skilled in inventory systems and documentation, including chemical handling
  
  
• Strong understanding of OH&S regulations relevant to laboratory and warehouse settings
  
  
• High attention to detail, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  
  
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  
  
• Commitment to workplace diversity and zero tolerance to harassment or discrimination
