Exercise Physiologist/ Physiotherapist
(Based in Darwin - 0.8 FTE)
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
In coordination with members of the Healthy Living NT multidisciplinary team and relevant stakeholders:
lead and deliver a physical activity program designed for people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions;
support Healthy Living NT’s broader chronic disease services;
act as a resource in the development of Healthy Living NT’s publications, reports, website and digital media presence;
All performance and conduct of duties shall be carried out in accordance with the principles of best practice, and in line with Healthy Living NT’s Guiding Values and objectives identified in Healthy Living NT Strategic Plan.
Responsible to the Education Services Manager
Specific Accountabilities
Develop, deliver and review a physical activity program including individual client assessment and group delivery under the MDT program guidelines and agreements.
Coordinate with the MDT Systems Navigator regarding clients in the program and feedback to referring GPs.
Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based strategies and innovative resources;
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the delivery of the MDT Physical Activity Program.
Undertake all MDT program reporting requirements with accuracy;
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and organisational policies in all projects and programs;
Provide practical support to participating organisations and groups in the preparation and delivery of events and programs in a culturally sensitive and relevant manner.
Practise in accordance with best practice clinical guidelines and standards.
Assist in the delivery of other HLNT programs.
Communications and Publications
Contribute to the production of two quarterly newsletters one targeting consumers and the other targeting health professionals, especially those in rural and remote communities.
Provide content for website and digital media development and communications.
Provide support in the production of other corporate, information and promotional reports and resources.
Be responsible for ongoing CPD to gain and maintain accreditation status as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist through ESSA or AHPRA as a Physiotherapist.
Responsible for other duties as directed by the Education Manager / CEO.

This position may be required to:
Occasionally work non-standard hours
It is a requirement of employment with Healthy Living NT that all health professionals obtain and maintain:
a satisfactory Police Criminal check
a Working with Children check (Ochre card)
a Northern Territory Driver’s License.

Selection Criteria
Essential
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Exercise Physiology and be accredited or working towards accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist through ESSA or tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy and registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
Hold an NT driver’s licence (or be eligible to obtain)
Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of physical activity programs, events and projects
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite at an intermediate to high level
Ability to effectively manage time and priorities to deliver high quality outputs on time and within budget
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for a range of audiences
Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and sustain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment
Demonstrated ability to participate in planning, implementing and evaluating education programs, resource development and health promotion activities
Demonstrated experience in event and project management
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to effectively participate as a member of a small multidisciplinary team within a cross-cultural environment
Highly desirable
Experience in the delivery of cardiac rehabilitation or programs with clients with chronic disease
Experience in delivery of services to people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular and pulmonary disease
Experience in working with older populations
Possess high motivation, strong initiative and time management skills
Understanding of the principles of quality management and demonstrated commitment to the process of continuous review and quality improvement
Demonstrated analytical and report writing skills
Demonstrated and well developed understanding of adult education learning principles, presentation skills, stages of behaviour change and group education
