About the role
We are seeking an Instrument Calibration Technician (Junior role accepted) to join our team at SSG Technologies Pty Ltd in Melbourne, Victoria. This full-time on site role will involve calibrating and testing various instruments and equipment including gas detection equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision
What you'll be doing
Calibrate and maintain a range of industrial instruments and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance including gas detection equipment
Repair and troubleshoot faulty equipment and instruments
Document all calibration and maintenance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures
Provide technical support to customers (as applicable to experience)
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance calibration processes and procedures
Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and compliant manner
Assist with project works which involve installation of cabling, wiring, installation and commissioning of instrumentation/gas detection systems - under supervision of a senior technician
What we're looking for
Preferred however not required - qualification in Instrumentation & Control, or a relevant technical discipline - on the job training will be provided.
Preferred however not required - Experience in the calibration and maintenance of industrial instrumentation and equipment - Candidate must be eager to learn.
Working knowledge of calibration standards, procedures, and testing techniques
Ability to use hand and power tools
Sound knowledge of basic electronics and circuits to understand instrument functions and operation
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and documentation skills
Flexibility is strongly required due to nature of work and ability to travel to various parts of Victoria
Valid Australian Driver's licence and the ability to drive proficiently
Must have their own car during probation to allow site to site travel. If candidate passes probation, a company vehicle may be discussed as an option.
Must be able to bring own basic tools including multimeter. Specialised tools and equipment will be provided by SSG
Ability to obtain National Police Check/Working with Children Check/White Card (Construction Card)
Visa status must allow to work in Australia without restriction (if applicable)
All works are typically carried out on client sites due to nature of work therefore candidate must have ability to be accepting of working on different locations each day. Every day is a new environment!
