Whitsunday Counselling and Support are seeking a qualified and experienced Practitioner to join our dedicated supportive team of Counsellors/Therapeutic Case Managers at our Bowen office. The role includes providing counselling and case management to vulnerable families within the Whitsunday region, supporting clients within our Specialist Family Counselling program.
Whitsunday Counselling and Support Inc is a not-for-profit community-based organisation offering a range of confidential services, provided in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Our vision is to work towards the prevention and reduction of violence in the community by providing professional support services to women, children, young people and families who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or are at risk of neglect or abuse.
Whitsunday Counselling & Support Inc. has a team of dedicated workers across the Whitsunday region who support victims of Domestic and Family Violence, Sexual Violence, and Families in need of support through education, empowerment, counselling and support.
As a Specialist Family Counsellor, your role will include providing counselling to children and families, to help strengthen the family unit and improve the wellbeing and safety of children and young people. You will also be required to facilitate group sessions to families and deliver community education to build the capacity of families and communities to nurture, care and protect their children.
The position advertised is based at our Bowen office, however you may be required to work at other outreach locations within the Whitsundays area.

The full time position is based on 76 hours per fortnight however consideration would be given for part-time position to the successful candidate. Remuneration is based on qualifications and experience as per the Social & Community Services Employee classification in the Social Community Homecare & Disability Services Award and the National Employment Standards. Pay paint is between Level 4 pay point 1 and Level 5 pay point 1.

Applicants need to currently hold:
Minimum qualification in Diploma of Counselling required; or
A Bachelor degree or above in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology or other related discipline is desirable.
Experience working with children and families.
A sound knowledge of the impact of domestic and family violence is desirable.
At least 2 years demonstrated experience working in a counselling setting.
Eligible for membership with AASW, APS, ACA or PACFA(or currently working towards gaining membership) is desirable.
Mandatory to commence employment - Blue Card (QLD clearance to work with children)
Applicants must have a current Queensland Blue Card before commencing employment with Whitsunday Counselling and Support Inc.
Current drivers’ licence is required.
