  • Duration: Part-time:4 days a week - Fixed term until 30 June 2026
  • Base Salary: $70,993-$76,403 p.a.

WHO ARE WE?

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The MSW is responsible for supporting the social-emotional wellbeing/perinatal mental health of families during the perinatal period. The MSW will work closely with the midwives to support engagement with pregnancy care and coordinate the provision of program within our DDHS clinical services. The MSW will not only support the pregnant client to access care at DDHS they will also ensure the family unit including grandparents have access to appropriate social emotional wellbeing/ mental health services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Maintain regular contact with clients within the scope of practice that have been identified by the Midwifery Team.
  • Facilitate client referrals to specialist and other allied health services, both internal and external to DDHS, and when required act as the liaison person on client's/family's behalf.
  • Provide a range of health education messages, information and advice to clients and families about healthy lifestyles choices and the importance of perinatal mental health.
  • Participate in the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) mental health training funded by The NT Health Perinatal Mental Health Project
  • Undertake relevant assessments to identify client/family support needs, gaps in service delivery and potential service provision enhancement and report on such activities as necessary.
  • Assist with planning, delivery, and evaluation of specific health program and community activities.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the team to record health program report, and client's feedback regarding the delivery of programs and services provided.
  • Assist with client follow up and recalls as directed and coordinated by the midwifery team

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to work within and maintain strict confidentiality guidelines and policies.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds to both obtain and convey information relevant to their care.
  • The ability to interact with a range of health professionals including medical practitioners and allied health professionals.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, with an ability to plan, manage and prioritise tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time and budget considerations.
  • Demonstrated computer skills especially in the use of client information systems or similar.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience working in maternal health
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in working with Communicare.
  • Relevant qualifications in Maternal and Peri Natal Mental health
  • Experience in working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service or similar complex environment such as service industry or public administration.

  • Willing to undergo a Police Check.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Current CPR certificate or the preparedness to gain one within 6 months of commencement.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) be submitted.
