About The Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA)
The Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA) is a visionary partnership between the University of Sydney, Sydney Local Health District and the NSW Government. By bringing together clinicians, researchers, academics, and industry partners, the SBA aims to address some of the world's most complex health challenges through innovation, translation, and commercialisation of biomedical discoveries.

About the Position
As Senior Associate Director of Development, you will play a pivotal role in securing significant philanthropic investment to accelerate medical discoveries and advancements. Drawing upon your proven fundraising experience and supported by our skilled advancement team, you will cultivate and nurture impactful relationships with high-net-worth individuals, industry partners, family offices, trusts and foundations. Your leadership and strategic relationship-building skills will directly enable groundbreaking research and transformative health outcomes. Every successful conversation has the potential to fund life-changing medical research, and innovative clinical breakthroughs.

About you

  • A substantial background in major gift fundraising, with demonstrated experience identifying, cultivating, and securing philanthropic contributions exceeding $1 million.
  • Proven knowledge or experience within biomedical, healthcare, or medical research sectors, enhancing your credibility and understanding of the philanthropic landscape.
  • a strong track record of achievement and meeting stretch financial targets
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior academics, clinicians, industry partners, and influential donors.
  • experience leading high-performing fundraising teams, managing performance, mentoring, and supporting professional growth.
  • Highly developed emotional intelligence, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Superior organisational skills, including the ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
