Detector Inspector Essential Services is currently looking to invest in an experienced Electrician to be a leader within our small but growing team. We want an electrician who has strong skills, can assist with training, and work in and manage small electrical projects. We are looking for someone who doesn’t mind working on their own or with others from time to time, has initiative and is open to learning about the Fire Industry. Someone who has the ability to become a technical supervisor will be strongly regarded.

Detector Inspector Essential Services manages the essential safety measures within commercial and residential buildings across Victoria. Our clients are prominent commercial real estate agencies, Owners corporation and facility management firms.

About the role:

The bulk of work will be completed independently within commercial and retails spaces across Melbourne, with a mix of work being completed in factories and high rise buildings. This will include a growing pool of projects with fire detection and alarm systems (FIPs).

Replace old and faulty exit and emergency lights.

Installation of new exit and emergency lighting systems, including cabling and connection to switchboards.

Replace old and expired 240 volt mains smoke alarms and 12 volt smoke alarms connected to security systems.

Installation of basic smoke alarm systems.

Fault finding and rectification of exit/emergency lighting and basic smoke alarm systems.

Providing guidance to the other electricians and office team

Assisting with electrical quotations

Increasing opportunities to work with, and install fire detection alarm systems.

Manage small projects

What you'll bring to the role:

Be a certified A grade Electrician, working under your own A-grade licence.

Commercial electrical experience.

Professional client interaction.

Experience in the fire industry is preferred but not required.

Experienced in managing other electricians on a project.

An interest to learn how to install fire panels and fire systems.

Reporting on your activities, compliance issues and health & safety matters.

Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Reliable, self-motivated, and well presented.

Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Strong commitment to safe work practices is essential.

Current valid driver’s licence.

Comfortable working on Scissor lifts
