As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will be contributing to something unique within the Queensland government. The ECQ is a modern and professional statutory authority, responsible for the impartial conduct of Queensland elections.

This is not your typical Chief Information Officer/ICT leadership role. This role works in an environment of changing demographics, emerging technologies, community expectations for greater convenience, and business improvement opportunities. In this role you will be a visible leader who works in partnership with your colleagues and be a key contributor to enabling and future-proofing the ECQ's digital technologies and critical election systems.

As a leader with vision, you will create, support, and maintain a strategy-driven service culture that will both give confidence to stakeholders and energise the team. The Queensland Public Service Leadership Competencies for Queensland apply to all positions within the ECQ.

Citizenship/Visa
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or a visa permitting you to work in Australia. If you are not an Australian citizen, you will need to provide evidence of your residency status or visa, with your right to work (including any conditions / restrictions). You are required to notify the department if your right to work in Australia ceases.
Probation
Probationary period of three (3) months must apply to successful applicants who are not permanent employees within the Queensland public sector.
Clearances
Criminal History Checks - Due to the sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to engagement.
Security Checks - Negative vetting clearance may be required

Special requirements
All positions within the ECQ may be expected on occasion to work irregular hours to meet the Commission's commitments, especially during election periods.
It is a requirement of the position, and applicants must be willing to certify, that they have not engaged in any recent political activity and will not engage, during their employment, in any political activity likely to raise a perception of bias. The Electoral Commission of Queensland operates the following political neutrality policy:

So that public confidence in the integrity of the electoral system and electoral outcomes can be maintained, Commission staff must be and must be seen to be politically neutral and are required to:

  • Refrain from membership of any political party
  • Refrain from engaging in political activity which could be seen as reflecting adversely on the staff member's political neutrality
  • Remain politically neutral in all aspects of work and in dealing with all clients.
