The Team:

The Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPCU) is small team overseeing infection prevention strategies across Southern Tasmania. Known for their expertise and collaborative approach, the team ensures safe, high-quality care through evidence-based practices, education and ongoing support. Working in a supportive environment, the IPCU plays a vital role in maintaining safety and compliance across the region.

The Role:

As an advanced clinical leader in infection prevention and control, the Clinical Nurse Consultant works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager - Infection Control (NUM) in the evaluation, planning and development of contemporary infection control practice across acute hospital and community services.

You will need

  • Works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager - Infection Control (NUM) in the evaluation, planning and development of contemporary infection control practice across acute hospital and community services.
  • Highly developed organisational skills including a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and within rigid timeframes, including a demonstrated ability to effectively work autonomously to achieve specified outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively review, develop and implement policies and procedures and initiate and implement quality improvement and research activities.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing on or around 15 September 2025.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Location: Hobart

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds or working towards postgraduate studies appropriate to infection prevention and control and inclusive of hospital epidemiology
