Senior Compliance Officer
Full Time Temporary Position until 7 November 2025
Band 7 Salary: $105,380 - $117,233 plus 11.5% superannuation

Our Governance team has a temporary opportunity for a professional with experience and a passion for compliance and risk to support Council's strategic compliance and risk management objectives.
About this Role
You will deliver a comprehensive compliance function that ensures Council's operations align with legislative requirements and internal policies. You will be instrumental in identifying risks, supporting internal audits, and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting periodic reviews and assessments to ensure adherence to Council policies, procedures, and relevant legislative frameworks.
- Supporting the delivery and coordination of the internal audit program.
- Managing and responding to general enquiries and complaints with professionalism and a strong customer service focus.
- Fulfilling the responsibilities of the Privacy Officer, ensuring Council meets its obligations under privacy legislation.
- Providing support to the Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to promote best practices in compliance and risk management.
About You
You have highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Experience in local government operations with administration experience at a senior level is desirable.
You will also have:
- A degree in law, business administration, or other relevant qualification with several years of subsequent relevant experience, or a lesser formal qualification with extensive relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a compliance-based role, including managing systems for compliance with obligations.
- Demonstrated experience in navigating privacy legislation and its application in complex organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and managing risk, with the ability to think strategically.
- Proven expertise and judgement in resolving complex issues and making recommendations for improvements.
- Proven ability to form strong relationships with organisational leaders, employees, and Councillors, including the ability to provide accurate and reliable advice.
