People in the care of the Department of Justice and Community Safety come with a range of complex needs and situations. Our team applies practices focusing on the criminogenic needs of clients who are on Community Corrections Orders.
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple ongoing and fixed term positions within the South East Metro Area. Find out more about our locations here.
You will work with:
- Our staff - providing leadership to Case Managers and Case Officers on how to get the most out of themselves and their clients through best practice.
- Our high risk clients - individuals who have committed serious sex and violent offences, clients who are high risk and have more complex needs requiring a strong technical skillset in case management
- Our program and service providers - representing the Department in a positive manner and advocating for our clients to ensure they are receiving services and interventions that will give them the best chance for rehabilitation in addressing their criminogenic needs.
Some key elements of this role also include:
- This is a practical role and flexible working arrangements are limited; successful candidates will be expected to be primarily on site
- Leading a team of practitioners to assist with enquiries around their clients and best practice case management
- Confidently assessing individuals for their risk and needs and possible intervention methods
- Producing well-written notes and reports which may be submitted and used in court proceedings
- Tertiary education in social work, criminology or a related field is highly regarded

This can be a challenging role and you will be offered plenty of training and support, we're looking for people who can demonstrate a high level of flexibility and resilience, leadership, problem-solving skills and stakeholder management expertise will be key to the Advanced Practitioner role. You will challenge and lead behaviour change, share great ideas and help people identify and work with their strengths.
