THE OPPORTUNITY

ASIS is seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals with strong leadership abilities who hold a diverse range of skills, to fill the EL2 Director Cyber Security role.

The successful candidate will require an exceptional ability to communicate effectively and contribute to a productive workplace in a complex and challenging risk environment. In addition, you will contribute to further enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of ASIS’s security practices and culture. You will also build and sustain effective relationships across ASIS, broader government and with international partners.

Working closely with the Senior Executive, you will be focused on building our security capability with strategic vision and outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to set strategic goals, effectively lead teams and showcase your representational skills at the highest level. ASIS is looking for a resilient leader who shows an inclusive approach to building relationships, to foster a positive culture and enhance our people capability.

THE ROLE

As Director, you will lead a team of technical specialists responsible for ensuring the secure delivery of ASIS mission through the provision of trusted cyber security services.

This role works closely with ASIS’s staff in Australia and deployed offshore to deliver cutting edge cyber maturity and resilience. You will be managing complex stakeholder relationships, both internal and external to ASIS. It will be essential that you build mutually beneficial networks across the National Intelligence Community and with industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Lead and develop a team of specialist technical officers to deliver outcomes in a high-tempo work environment;
  • Provide cyber technology leadership and drive the application of good cyber security technology principles, clearly describing the risks and opportunities involved;
  • Inform decisions through the provision of technical advice relating to:
  • risk management assessments;
  • capability requirements and acceptance; and
  • sustainment and maintenance of technical capabilities.
  • Consult collaboratively with stakeholders to develop product roadmaps to ensure platforms stay current, accredited and are continually improved from a cyber rating perspective;
  • Collaborate closely with industry to keep appraised of technology changes and challenges and ensure engagement and lessons inform ASIS cyber programs; and
  • As a key member of the branch leadership team, contribute to branch strategy; translate ASIS strategy into tangible goals and objectives for the branch; and identify opportunities to promote innovation, enhance branch efficiency and capability evolution.
