As a Communications Officer, you will develop and execute effective communication strategies that promote Council's services, projects, and events. Your work will help enhance community understanding and strengthen Council's reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement communications plans for Council initiatives
• Produce high-quality content for various channels, including websites, media releases, posters, flyers, and magazine articles
• Write speeches and contribute to Council's quarterly magazine
• Manage weekly email newsletters using Campaign Monitor
• Upload content to the Squiz CMS platform
• Oversee outdoor advertising, including street banners and bus shelter campaigns
• Support media inquiries and coordinate photo shoots
• Assist with social media content creation and publishing

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, journalism, marketing, or a related field
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
• Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content
• Proficiency in digital tools such as Campaign Monitor, Squiz CMS, and basic Photoshop (desirable)
• Strong planning and organizational capabilities
• Digital literacy across relevant software and online platforms
• Flexibility to attend meetings and events outside standard hours
• Current driver's license
