As a Labourer for the water/sewer construction team within field services, you will play a vital role in the construction of water and sewer projects. Your duties will include supporting plumbers on-site, driving trucks, and operating various plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service to all MRC clients, both internal and external.
- Labouring Tasks: Perform labouring tasks associated with construction and maintenance work on water and sewerage assets as well as other construction projects as required.
- Operate Equipment: Competently operate rigid motor vehicles with GVM up to 15 tonnes, small ride-on equipment, and light mechanical plant.
- Quality Implementation: Assist in the implementation of all quality requirements for the work.
- Safety and Compliance: Contribute to daily pre-start toolbox talks, identify hazards and unsafe work practices, and implement appropriate controls.
- Signage and Traffic Management: Plan, install, and remove signage for works carried out in road reserves in accordance with recommended standards, after suitable training.
- Paperwork: Complete all required paperwork for client complaints and other associated tasks in a prompt and detailed manner.
- Environmental Compliance: Work within the confines of environmental legislation, ensuring best practice work procedures with minimum environmental impact.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other responsibilitiesas delegated by your immediate supervisor within the scope of this position.
Qualifications
Essential:
- General Construction Safety 'White' Card.
- QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence or interstate equivalent (must be transferred to QLD within three months of commencement).
Desirable:
- Current Skid Steer Ticket.
Experience
Essential:
- Experience in construction/maintenance labouring.
- Experience in Traffic Management Implementation.
- Experience in construction/maintenance labouring in water and sewerage reticulation systems.
- Experience in concrete finishing and pipelaying.
Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic numerical calculations to a standard relevant to the duties involved in the position.
- Sound skills in oral and written communication.
- Manual handling skills with the ability to work safely.
- Ability to competently and safely operate trucks and other motorized equipment.
- Ability to work with others and foster a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments and/or conditions while maintaining a positive attitude.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety regulations relevant to the Construction Industry.
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance procedures for water and sewer as well as roads and drainage assets.
Special Requirements:
- Willingness and flexibility to work overtime outside normal hours, where required, to undertake assigned tasks.
- Commitment to working cooperatively with others and fostering a team environment in line with the Civil Operations/Civil Projects Team Book.
