Position Purpose

Sophia Mundi Steiner School is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to deliver engaging, rigorous and imaginative Mathematics and Science education aligned with both the Australian Steiner Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (Years 11–12).

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Mathematics and Science lessons for Years 7 to 12, aligned with Steiner pedagogical principles and the School’s curriculum frameworks, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) for Years 11 and 12.

Develop and implement differentiated learning experiences that meet the academic and developmental needs of all students.

Collaborate with colleagues across subject areas and year levels to support interdisciplinary and integrated learning approaches.

Design and apply a range of assessment strategies, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to semester and IB reporting processes.

Actively participate in the co-curricular life of the School, including camps, excursions, festivals, and other community events.

Engage in ongoing professional development, including faculty meetings, collaborative planning, and school-wide initiatives, with a commitment to both Steiner and IB educational philosophies.

Selection Criteria

Essential

A teaching qualification with registration (or eligibility) with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)

Specialisation or strong competence in both Mathematics and Science teaching

A deep interest in Steiner/Waldorf education or a willingness to undertake Steiner training

Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire students across a range of abilities

Strong interpersonal skills and a collegial, team-based approach

Commitment to the school’s values of respect, creativity, integrity, and spiritual insight.

Desirable

Experience teaching the IB Diploma Programme (particularly Maths and/or Sciences)

Familiarity with the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework

Capacity to contribute to broader school life including mentoring, camps, and community events.
