About the role

If you are a highly motivated, qualified individual and eager to make a real difference in the community then this is the role for you.

As a Delivered Meals Driver, you will provide a high standard of service delivery to clients within the Merri-bek and Darebin municipalities (3-5 hour shifts with a start time of 9am every week day Monday to Friday), as well as having an opportunity for an additional 1.5hrs for direct deliveries to Banyule and Yarra City Council meal distribution centres using a refrigeration council van (1:30pm-3pm). Successful applicant must be flexible and have availability to cover both shifts aforementioned when required. You will be required to use your personal vehicle as well as the council vans as part of the role. This role will see you working with older people to ensure their nutritional needs are met by delivering a nutritious meal to their door while accessing their welfare on delivery and reporting all feedback to our Delivered Meals administration team.

To be successful in this role you will have strong interpersonal skills, active listening skills and a strong level of care and interest for the welfare of older people in the area.

Skills and experience require to perform the role
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to discuss and resolve minor work-related problems and refer them to supervisory staff where appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate and empathise with clients.
  • Basic written communication skills.
  • Team player
  • Experience working with older adults would be advantageous.
  • First Aid/CPR training
  • A current Working with Children Check
Key selection criteria
  • Current full drivers’ licence and use of a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to drive Council refrigerated vans as well as your own vehicle.
  • Second language desirable.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively with all people – clients, their families, and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Child safety and wellbeing requirements and how this applies in the role.
  • Must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
