About Us:

MainStream Aquaculture is a rapidly growing aquaculture business that produces and sells Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) products for Australia and internationally. We are pleased to offer an opportunity for the right candidate to join our highly skilled and motivated aquaculture technical team. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be involved in the daily operations of Mainstream’s industry leading fish production system.

The Role:

Entry level Aquaculture Technician. This is a full-time position with a rotating roster that includes weekend shifts. This position is suitable if you are passionate about aquaculture, physically fit and looking for professional development and growth in the aquaculture industry. Mainstream Aquaculture team members have a strong work ethic, are excellent communicators and work collaboratively in a safe and structured manor.

Technician Responsibilities include:

• Performing routine water, environmental and fish health testing.
• Feeding and maintaining healthy fish stocks.
• Executing daily production and routine maintenance plans.
• Assisting with fish harvesting and operational activity.
• Assisting with final product packing (chill packing) activities.
• Assisting with fish processing (scaling, filleting) activities.
• Working in line with the company’s food safety, work safety and quality assurance regulations.
• Maintaining data, documentation and reporting to a high standard.
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Professional Requirements:

• Effective oral and written communicator.
• A strong sense of personal accountability, responsibility and teamwork.
• A passion for the aquaculture industry.
• Flexibility to work on varied tasks and rosters.
• Australian resident or currently hold a visa with work rights in Australia.
• Graduates and experienced applicants with tertiary qualifications in aquaculture, marine biology or similar are preferred; but formal qualification is not essential and training can be provided to the successful candidates.
