The employee in the role will work collaboratively within a positive, supportive, and safe team environment with the purpose of continuing to grow our organization’s capacity to reduce suicide in the far west of NSW.
The role will provide quality financial counselling, capability and education to individuals, families, or groups within our community by way of assessment, advocacy, negotiation and referrals.
The role is required to:
- Provide financial counselling to individuals aimed at improving financial affairs and reducing the likelihood of ongoing financial crisis. Ensuring thorough case work planning through effective assessment and referral, and the provision of advocacy and negotiation on the client’s behalf with credit providers as required.
- Maintain comprehensive client and service data and related documentation. Ensuring data collection and client file records are up to date and stored securely, in line with legislative and organizational requirements.
- Maintain strong commitment to professional development. Embrace continual learning and keep informed of changes in the financial industry and associated consumer law. Ensuring an up-to-date training & development plan is maintained.
The role requires:
- Diploma in Financial counselling and membership of NSW Financial counselling Association or working towards this.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Sound financial skills and experience working in financial counselling or related areas with high level computer skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding of basic budgeting principles/applications.
- Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills (working with a diverse range of individuals and groups).
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
