QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by managing and coordinating delivery of mechanical maintenance and construction activities. This role has a strong focus on safety and the delivery of services to a high standard of workmanship, while maximising project profitability and ensure client satisfaction.
Duties and skills involved:
- Providing expert mechanical engineering advice, services and consultancy to mechanical workers, external clients and authorities.
- Ensuring legislation, industry codes of practice, Australian Standards, documented work methods, and Material Safety Data Sheets are updated, controlled and communicated to stakeholders.
- Supervising the delivery of mechanical construction, maintenance and upgrade work undertaken by QBuild, including assisting in the planning and delivery of projects through the efficient management of budgets, supervision and development of office staff, field staff and subcontractors and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
- Ensuring the application of safety management systems (SMS) including participating in WHS audits, undertaking WHS inspections, ensuring accurate job documentation (e.g., risk assessment), and investigating safety incidents, risks and breaches.
- Producing high quality tender and quotation documentation for mechanical projects and preparing accurate and timely estimates, quotations and project trade packages.
- Performing the role of Superintendents Representative (SR) projects delivered by the QBuild region, as required.
- Providing technical support and supervision to the region for small air-conditioning/refrigeration system installations.
- Accurately pricing and providing estimates for minor mechanical repairs, upgrades, and additions.
- Coordinating the supervision and completion of competencies for mechanical apprentices.
- Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles, including employment equity, anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety.
- Compiling and filing refrigerant handling equipment and usage information for Australian Refrigeration Council ARCTICK audits.
- Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Preferred skills and experience/Additional requirements
- Current Queensland restricted (refrigeration trade) Electrical Work Licence.
- Refrigeration/air-conditioning trade qualification Cert 3
- Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card
- Current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and low voltage rescue certificate
- Current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent.
