Ongoing - Full Time
Solicitor In Charge VI (between $161,034 - $164,426 plus super & annual leave loading)

About the role
As the Solicitor in Charge (SIC) at Dubbo, you will lead and manage the day to day activities of the regional office, ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources and delivery of high-quality legal services that meet the needs of clients and the community in the Central West.
You will provide expert legal advice and representation in complex matters while overseeing office operations, supervising legal and administrative staff, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
You will also develop and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the private profession, legal assistance providers, and the courts, while representing Legal Aid NSW in the local community.
About you
The successful applicant will be an experienced lawyer with strong leadership and management skills, capable of balancing a busy legal practice with office supervision and strategic planning. You will have experience handling complex legal matters, a commitment to high-quality client service, and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Management experience is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff, drive service improvements, and promote a collaborative team environment.
We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role
You must:
be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us
be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/ or Working with Children Check
hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
Hold a valid Driver Licence and the ability to travel including overnight travel

We deliver legal services in most areas of criminal, family and civil law. Our services are provided through our Central Sydney office and 21 regional offices. Legal Aid NSW employs approximately 900 staff. Legal Aid NSW delivers legal services in partnership with the private legal profession through grants of legal aid. In 2011-12 private lawyers represented 42.5% of legal aid clients. We work closely with our partners including LawAccess NSW, Community Legal Centres and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service NSW/ACT. The long-term strategic direction of Legal Aid NSW is overseen by a Board, appointed by the Attorney General.
