Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operator to join our recycling yard team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience operating heavy machinery, such as excavators and forklifts, and sorting non-ferrous and ferrous materials. As an Operator, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe operation of our recycling yard, ensuring the proper handling of materials while adhering to OHS guidelines.

Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, such as excavators and forklifts, in a safe and efficient manner
- Sort non-ferrous and ferrous materials using designated equipment and machinery, such as shears
- Identify and separate recyclable materials to ensure proper processing and disposal
- Adhere to all occupational health and safety guidelines and protocols
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and achieve daily production targets
- Perform general yard maintenance and clean-up activities as required
- Actively participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications
- Proven experience as an excavator operator, experience in sorting non-ferrous and ferrous materials an advantage
- Proficiency in using shears and other equipment for material sorting and processing
- Experience operating forklifts is advantageous
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OHS guidelines
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to support operational requirements
