About the role
Columba Catholic College, Charters Towers is seeking an experienced and dedicated Residential Houseparent for the girls/boys Boarding Facilities. This is a casual position will commence on Monday 21 July 2025 and will complete 38 hours per week during school terms.
The Residential Houseparent is a member of a team appointed to act in a pastoral/supervisory role of residents in a residential situation. The team is a group of people with a high degree of interdependence geared towards the achievement of the goal of caring for those in their charge. The quality of care will be enhanced when Residential Houseparent's have a high degree of confidence and trust in each other; are highly motivated to abide by the values of the College; and, at all times, will do what he or she reasonably can to help create an atmosphere of acceptance, understanding and respect.
Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other
Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
Commitment to undertake and successfully complete ABSA Book 1 and 2
Current Senior First Aid certificate, including Asthma and CPR components or ability to undertake
Food Handlers certificate
Current Driver’s Licence
Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Some employees may be subject to pre-employment medical assessments during the selection process. Depending on the nature of the position, it may be necessary for successful applicants to be immunised against certain preventable diseases in order to minimise the risk of transmission.
Desirable Criteria
Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety
Ability to obtain an LR or MR licence.
