Australian Industrial Plastics is seeking a skilled and versatile Tradesperson for a full-time, workshop-based role. This position offers a varied workload across light steel fabrication, plastic fabrication, and poly welding.

This role would suit a boilermaker or welder who’s looking to diversify their skill set and step into something a little different. If you enjoy working with your hands but don’t want to be stuck doing metalwork 100% of the time, this is a great opportunity to broaden your trade skills and learn fabrication techniques using thermoplastics. You’ll still get to work with steel, but in a more balanced and varied role.

Key Responsibilities

Light steel fabrication (e.g. handrails, brackets, supports, and frames)

Fabrication and installation of PE pipe systems for civil and utility projects

Operation of butt fusion, electrofusion, and extrusion welding equipment

Reading and interpreting isometric and mechanical drawings

Assembly of tanks, vessels, and custom plastic components

Occasional travel for site work or installations

Ensuring compliance with all safety and quality procedures

Ideal Candidate Will Have

Trade qualifications in boilermaking or welding

NSW White Card (Construction Induction)

Ability to read and interpret isometric and fabrication drawings

Strong understanding of workplace health, safety, and quality standards

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in poly welding and PE pipe installation (training available)

Extrusion welding certifications (training available)

Current driver’s licence (manual preferred)

High-risk work licences (e.g. forklift, EWP, dogging) are an advantage
