How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne

With a focus on universal social inclusion, the Community Wellbeing branch supports people across all stages of life—children and their families, older adults, and people with disabilities—through programs that promote health, happiness, and community connection.

Children's Services operates two Council-managed centres offering long day care and integrated kindergarten to over 200 children weekly, while also supporting a network of community and not-for-profit providers across additional Council-owned sites.

Join a team committed to building a socially inclusive community where wellbeing and belonging are at the heart of everyday life. The Community Wellbeing branch is seeking an experienced Children’s Services Assistant Coordinator to support the operations of the Lady Huntingfield Early Learning and Family Services Centre.

This leadership position plays a vital role in managing the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care, aligned with the Children’s Services Philosophy and the National Quality Framework. Working closely with the Centre Coordinator and Educational Leader, the Assistant Coordinator will guide the development and implementation of engaging, safe, and inclusive programs that meet the diverse needs of children and families.

The position is central to the effective day-to-day running of the service, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and fostering a positive, supportive environment for children, families, and staff. Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders is key, with a strong focus on building community networks and maintaining productive relationships with Family Services and government departments.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant, resilient community through excellence in early childhood leadership and care.
