About the Role: Yarra City Council is seeking a dedicated Crew Leader to join our Roads Services team. This role involves delivering high-quality, efficient, and value-driven services to our community through road and infrastructure maintenance.
The position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Council's in house Road Services staff, supervising works to a high standard and ensuring a safe workplace. You will be assisting with Infrastructure Maintenance activities including road repairs, footpath reinstatement, street furniture and street signage repairs. This role offers a diverse and rewarding work environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and accountability for councils in house maintenance program.
- Supervision of a crew of road maintenance staff, providing guidance and training, ensuring all work adheres to strict safety standards.
- Accountability, operation and management of plant and equipment including safety and security inspections.
- Leading teams performing maintenance activities across asphalting, concreting, bluestone, signs and street furniture.
- Managing response timeframes for activities in Council’s Road Management Plan, ensuring they are completed within specified time frames.
Skills and Experience:
- Licenses, skills, and competency in operating plant and vehicles, including heavy mechanical equipment. (Heavy Rigid Preferrable)
- Experience in civil construction, particularly in asphalt placement, concreting and bluestone construction.
- Experience leading, planning and supervising a work crew within a municipal maintenance works environment.
