Mentor Counselling & Support For Young Men, are currently seeking enthusiastic young male support mentors to join our team on a casual basis!
As a registered NDIS provider, we offer a relaxed, engaging approach to supporting male participants aged 13-35+ throughout the Perth region, from Mandurah to Yanchep. We’re looking for support mentors who are passionate about mental health and dedicated to making a positive impact on our participants' lives by providing ongoing, weekly support.
This role involves presenting as a role model and building relationships to support participants in their day-to-day tasks at home and out in the community, helping them with life admin, activities, and building mental health resilience to overcome barriers for better living.
Requirements:
Based in the Perth metro area.
Must be a male candidate between 18 - 35 years old [To suit our participants needs].
Understanding of both physical and invisible disabilities including ASD, ADHD, Intellectual, Psychosocial and related behaviours.
Resilience to support participants who may present as unmotivated, under the influence, or cause frustrations.
Commitment to ongoing training, including completing risk assessments and incident reports as required.
Reliable to attend shifts at the designated time and be able to work independently on support plans that have been created.
Flexibility to work around our participants changing schedules and cover other shifts when required.
Strong communication skills to interact with clients, parents, team members, management and other industry professionals.
Ability to complete physical activities such as attending playing sports, bowling, trampoline centers, swimming, going on walks / hikes.
Personal interest in sports, gaming, board games, fishing, bushwalking, swimming, cars, animals, art or pop culture is preferred.
Experience in a support role or relevant qualifications in disability care, individual support, community services, mental health, counselling, psychology, or social work is preferred [either ongoing or completed].
Willingness to learn and apply counselling techniques in an informal setting to help overcome participant resistance and build trust.
Qualifications:
Valid WA driver’s licence with a reliable, clean and fully insured vehicle to take clients around in [you will be reimbursed for kilometers]
Rights to work in Australia
Police clearance [or able to obtain one]
CPR training & First Aid certificate [or able to obtain one]
Working with Children Check [or able to obtain one]
NDIS Screening Check [or able to obtain one]
NDIS workers screening module [or able to complete it]
