About the role

Magnetic Maritime Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 or 2 to join our team in Townsville, QLD. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of marine engines and associated equipment on both our vessels. The safe loading and unloading of all types of transportation vehicles on and off the vessel as we transit from Townsville to Magnetic Island.

What you'll be doing

• Operate and monitor the performance of the main and auxiliary engines and other mechanical equipment
• Assist and direct in the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles and trucks aboard the Car Ferry that operates daily between Townsville and Magnetic Island
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on engines, pumps, valves, and other mechanical systems
• Ensure all safety procedures and environmental regulations are followed
• Maintain detailed logs and records of equipment performance and maintenance activities (MPM)
• Participate in crew rotations and be available for on-call duties as required
• Collaborate with the engineering superintendent to identify and resolve any technical issues
• Assist and work with various trades with vessel continual improvement

What we're looking for

• Valid Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 or 2 certificate or equivalent
• Hold a current First Aid and CPR
• AMSA 1850 medical
• Experience operating and maintaining marine engines and associated equipment
• Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work safely in a marine environment
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays
