Direct Reduction and Electric Smelting of Low-Medium Grade Iron Ores.
We are seeking an Associate Research Fellow to work within the University of Wollongong’s Pyro group of the Engineering Materials Research Centre (EMRS) and the School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering, on a new sustainability project involving Australian Pilbara iron ores in an Electric Smelting Furnace process.
Position Description
The Associate Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting research related to a new proposed iron/steelmaking route with specific focus on slag properties and slag-liquid metal reactions for high temperature processing. The fellow will be involved in planning, experimentation, data analysis, student supervision, report writing and the communication of results to industry and through peer-reviewed journal articles.
