Our client a national Not-For-Profit in the education sector have engaged us on retainer to find the newest member of their Engineering team. This permanent role, reporting to the Head of IT Solutions, would see you take responsibility for the coaching, mentoring and development of an existing team of engineers while also bringing extensive Azure Cloud experience and previous experience migrating on prem applications into a cloud based environment. In addition you would have reasonable experience with Hyper V virtual servers, Intune, Salesforce and reasonable networking knowledge.
Your current team would include 3 System Engineers, 1 Sys Admin and 1 Network Engineer, you would be responsible for bringing this current team on a journey to the cloud.

What will you be doing?
Ensure adherence to relevant compliance standards, such as ISO 27001, Right Fit For Risk and other industry-specific regulations.
Assist in and manage, where required, efforts to define and enforce security policies and procedures across the organization.
Contribute to the development and execution of incident response plans to address information security breaches and vulnerabilities promptly.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to enhance overall security posture.
Coordinate and actively contribute to Engineering team activities for evidence gathering and management to support organizational audit obligations
Stay current with the latest security threats, providing proactive measures to mitigate potential risks.
Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and optimal performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect cloud, hybrid and on-premise environments and solutions that align with business objectives and industry best practices.
Work on, and effectively prioritise for the Engineering team, multiple technical projects, enhancements, IT support requests, and project tasks to limit work in progress and bring projects to completion.
Be the technical lead for initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of the broader IT team.
Maximise uptime of group networks, servers and information systems.
Proactive scaling of the group wide area network, IaaS and SaaS solutions as well as self-hosted server infrastructure to meet the demands of the organisation, including rapid growth.
Coordinate infrastructure and application benchmarking to ensure the group's Information Services Platform remains fit for purpose.
Identify opportunities to increase group IT department and business efficiencies through automation.
Manage relationships and be the first level escalation path for support calls with vendors (e.g. Managed Service Providers, Hardware /Software Vendors).
Provide technical advisory and guidance to the IT Leadership team to inform technical decision making, roadmaps and plans based on best practice and risk reduction.
Actively contribute to IT and business reporting requirements, as required.
Share knowledge and insights with team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Provide coaching, guidance and mentorship to Engineering and IT team members, fostering their professional development.
Lead, mentor and develop Engineering team members
Understand the position description for direct reports, and manage and maintain documented position descriptions as appropriate
Manage and coordinate on time performance and probation reviews for all Engineering team members
Facilitate continuous improvement for the practices and processes undertaken by the Engineering team based on team and stakeholder feedback
Encourage and maintain a culture of high collaboration and communication in the Engineering team, IT Department and the Business
Comply with all relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment is maintained. Abide by company procedures for identifying and reporting of potential hazards
Always protect information relating to customers, employees and our business. This includes complying with the IT Acceptable Use Policy and any other related IT, records or information security policies or directions
Practice good digital security by reporting information and\or cyber security incidents, protecting physical equipment and handling information according to its classification
What will you bring to the role?
Previous experience leading IT Engineering teams
Extensive experience in designing and managing cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure / M365 cloud
Previous experience in planning, designing, and delivering cloud migration projects and initiatives
Extensive experience in mentoring, coaching and providing guidance to engineering and technical IT teams
Previous experience providing infrastructure support in a complex IT environment, including extensive knowledge of Hyper V
Previous experience implementing and improving quality assurance and customer satisfaction practices within IT teams
Strong understanding of ITIL v3/v4 framework, certification highly desirable
Exposure to Information Security industry standards ISO 27001 and/ or Right Fit For Risk highly desirable
Previous experiencing in managing and prioritising work using Jira, highly desirable
Thorough working knowledge of ITSM and ITIL principles
Professional communication skills with the ability to communicate to diverse audiences
Ability to effectively prioritize and work under pressure, making informed decisions and managing risk
Ability to manage change and disruptions in workflow and processes
Ability and desire to coach, adapt and motivate team
Ability to delegate work and contribute effectively to implementing and maintaining a highly collaborative IT culture
Ability to effectively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and encourage and motivate teams to do the same
Ability to work on own initiatives as well as part of a wider team where the role is expected to seek guidance from, and give support to, fellow team members
Extensive technical knowledge of current hardware, software, operating systems, networking, monitoring and alerting tools and Remote Access
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft technology products including cloud, hybrid and on-premise
Ability to provide technical expertise to team members
Excellent time and work management skills that ensure workload is managed and deadlines are met according to agreed priorities
Must have compliance requirements
Satisfactory National Police Check - Can be applied for during the process

Drivers Licence applicable to the state in which you work
