MyTime Group Facilitator
Supporting Parents and Carers of Children with Complex Needs
Casual Level 3.1 under the SCHADs Award, 4 hours on a Friday
This Broome-based role is active during the school term only

Broome Youth and Families Hub is looking for a Facilitator to run its MyTime program. MyTime is tailored specifically to support families with children aged 0—18 who have a developmental delay, disability, chronic medical condition, or who are in this process of seeking support and/or undergoing diagnosis. The Facilitator will be available from 8am—12pm on Fridays during school term. They will be tasked with creating a safe, inclusive space, in which all families feel welcome to have a coffee, share their experiences and participate in group activities. A Play Helper will be on hand to assist with set up and engage children ages 0-5 during sessions.
Key Duties
Coordinate engaging session content that is tailored to the needs and wishes of the group’s participants with an even balance between: general discussion (‘coffee and chat’), structured topics (guest speakers) and activities (such as pampering and self-care, and special events)
Guide conversations that are open, inclusive, flexible and culturally appropriate
Manage the catering and activity budget
Connect participants with other services and agencies across the sector where necessary
Facilitate a two-hour session with half an hour before and after for set up and pack down
Spend one additional hour per week on session preparation and administrative duties such as logging member attendance and registering new members
Promote upcoming session with a personalised text message to each member
Report to the program Coordinator who provides support as needed
Work with the Coordinator on promotion and recruitment, as well as delivery of the group sessions.
Stay up to date with professional development and participate in the MyTime evaluation.
Skills and Experience
We want you to be successful in your new role! This means you'll have:
Lived experience raising a child/ren with complex needs – this would be first priority for hiring, above any qualifications.
• Diploma or degree in a relevant area (e.g. family support, child development, social work, psychology); OR
• Experience in the facilitation of groups and work in the family support context; AND
• Knowledge and understanding of issues facing parents of children with additional needs; AND
• Experience in the delivery of group interventions; AND
