Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated pharmacists to join the Pharmacy Department as the Grade 3 Grade 3 Senior Pharmacist - Paediatrics and Obstetrics
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg..
About the Pharmacy Department:
The Pharmacy Department operates across five campuses and has a strong vision to deliver exceptional, evidenced-based care to our patients - with a clear focus on research, medication safety and clinical excellence. Meeting the immediate and longer-term health care needs of our community requires a transformation in how we provide health care services, and Northern Health has embarked on the journey to transform into a High Reliability Healthcare Organisation.
The department comprises over 100 pharmacists and 30 technicians to provide clinical, operational, quality and informatics services with a strong focus on workforce culture and commitment to professional development.
We are currently undergoing a period of expansion which provides unique opportunities for specialisation appealing to those applicants wishing to challenge themselves and advance practice including pharmacist and technician advanced-scope roles, collaborative multidisciplinary programs and services, medicine stewardship programs (e.g. analgesics, anticoagulants and antimicrobials) and virtual care (including Heart Failure Virtual Ward and Victorian Virtual Emergency Department).
About the Role:
A full-time opportunity exists for a Grade 3 Pharmacist to join the team at Northern Health. This role will require work over 10 days (80 hours) per fortnight - Monday to Friday at the Northern Hospital with potential to work at other sites of Northern Health as required.
The Senior Pharmacist - Paediatrics and Obstetrics is a clinical leadership position and is responsible for the delivery and development of clinical pharmacy services to Northern Health's Women's and Children service, and will have clinical responsibility for the Neonatal Unit at Epping. They will ensure excellence in client care, evidence-based practice, service improvement and risk management. They will have governance responsibilities for the service including ensuring the competency, credentialing, supervision and professional development of the pharmacy team.
Northern Health provides comprehensive maternity and paediatric services to families in Melbourne's outer northern suburbs. Maternity care includes antenatal clinics, birthing suites, postnatal support, and the Maternity in the Home program, with care models tailored to each pregnancy. The 17-bed Neonatal Nursery and 16-bed Paediatric Ward offer high-quality, family-centred inpatient care. Paediatric services also include outpatient clinics and a Paediatric Hospital in the Home program, supporting recovery in familiar surroundings. Our multidisciplinary team delivers safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care throughout pregnancy, birth, early childhood, and beyond
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Comprehensive experience as a hospital pharmacist, minimum of 5 years' experience
- Extensive clinical experience in Women's and Children's service
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Commitment to evidence based and client centered care
- Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills
