The Day Surgery Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse (CN) provides an advanced level clinical skill to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care and plans. The position being offered primarily has a day surgery and extended day surgery focus; however, the successful applicant will be expected to work in all areas of DSU. The advanced clinical and leadership skills of clinical nurses are transferrable across all areas of DSU.

About the Team

The Day Surgery Unit (DSU) is part of the Perioperative and Ambulatory Care Stream, Mackay Base Hospital.

The DSU includes day of surgery admissions, second stage “day only” recovery, extended day surgery and endoscopy, offering staff a variety of healthcare environments to apply their clinical skills. The DSU supports all diagnostic and interventional endoscopic procedures performed at the MBH such as colonoscopy, gastroscopy and bronchoscopy.

The aim of the DSU is to provide a high-quality patient centred service along the surgical continuum from admission to post discharge phone call, through staff & patient education, multidisciplinary consultation, community engagement, feedback and innovation, within allocated financial resources.
