About the NSW Crime Commission:
The NSW Crime Commission’s purpose is to disrupt, reduce and prevent the incidence of organised and other serious crime in New South Wales. The Commission is structured into several divisions, support teams and specialist units.
The function of conducting confiscations and providing legal services is assigned to the Commission’s Legal Services and Confiscations Division under the leadership of the Executive Director Legal and Confiscations. The Commission’s Confiscations function and practice manages responsibilities under the Criminal Assets Recovery Act 1990 (‘CARA’) principally relating to the confiscation of the proceeds of crime and recovery of assets derived from crime. Legal Services support the Commission’s Investigative and Confiscation functions providing legal advice, litigation services and support to coercive powers under the Crime Commission Act 2012.
About the role
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for conducting complex financial investigations into persons of interest to assess suitability to commence confiscation proceedings. The role interrogates financial information, databases and other sources; grades and analyses available data and information; presents logical and succinct conclusions; and ensures that litigation can be commenced at an operationally appropriate time. The role also assists in the preliminary investigation of newly commenced confiscation proceedings as required.
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing mentoring to Financial Analysts. This role will be responsible for ongoing process and workflow improvements. The Senior Financial Analyst provides advice to the multiple internal and external stakeholders to inform decision making and performance.

Essential Requirements
Demonstrated understanding of, and experience with, accounting concepts, standards, systems and practices and/or membership or eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body (i.e. Chartered Accountant, Certified Practising Accountant or equivalent).
Degree qualifications and/or relevant experience in law enforcement, intelligence, government investigations or another relevant discipline
Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, influencing and presentation skills, particularly effective communication skills in dealing with people from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills, including a demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and priorities
Ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Excellent computer skills, including an ability to use spreadsheet and database applications
Understanding of the role and functions of the Commission, including the capacity to deal with confidential, sensitive and secret information with tact, discretion and judgement
Security Vetting
The recommended candidates must be willing to participate in and secure appropriate security clearances (including a Commonwealth security vetting clearance), and provide details of personal and financial interests and other relevant information about themselves, their families and their associates. The Crime Commission Regulation 2022 under the Crime Commission Act 2012 stipulates that it is a condition of employment at the Commission that a member of staff obtain and maintain:
a security clearance issued by the Commissioner, and
a security clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency that the Commissioner determines is necessary for the position

Establishment
The New South Wales Crime Commission (‘the Commission’) is a statutory corporation established by subsection 7 (1) of the Crime Commission Act 2012 (‘the Act’). The Act was assented to on 24 September 2012, repealing the New South Wales Crime Commission Act 1985. The life of the Commission commenced on 20 January 1986 with the appointment of the Commission's first Members by the then Governor
Objective
Pursuant to section 3 of the Act, the principal objective of the Act is to reduce the incidence of organised and other serious crime.
Principal Functions
The principal functions of the Commission, as set out by subsection 10 (1) of the Act, are as follows:
1.to investigate matters relating to a relevant criminal activity or serious crime concern referred to the Commission by the Management Committee for investigation;
2.to assemble evidence that would be admissible in the prosecution of a person for a relevant offence arising out of any such matters and to furnish any such evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions;
3.to furnish evidence obtained in the course of its investigations (being evidence that would be admissible in the prosecution of a person for an indictable offence against the law of the Commonwealth or another State or Territory) to the Attorney General or to the appropriate authority in the jurisdiction concerned;
4.to reinvestigate matters relating to any criminal activity that were the subject of a police inquiry (being an inquiry referred for reinvestigation to the Commission by the Management Committee) and to furnish its findings to the Committee together with any recommendation as to action the Commission considers should be taken in relation to those findings;
5.to furnish in accordance with the Act reports relating to organised and other crime, which include, where appropriate, recommendations for changes in the laws of the State;
6.to provide investigatory, technological and analytical services to such persons or bodies as the Commission thinks fit; and
7.with the approval of the Management Committee, to work in co-operation with such persons or authorities of the Commonwealth, the State or another State or Territory (including any task force and any member of a task force) as the Commission considers appropriate
