Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Social Worker or Case Manager to join the Inner North Office on a full-time term basis.

The role is responsible for:

Working within a team to provide high-quality case management for children and families, following statutory guidelines.

Assisting families by supporting the safe return of children to their care and ensure the development, stability, and security of children in care.

Maintaining a safe work environment by identifying and reporting incidents, hazards, injuries, and complying with DCP policies and procedures.

Providing inclusive services for Aboriginal people and those from diverse backgrounds, while engaging in cultural learning to enhance relationships and services.

Providing concise, informative written and verbal reports based on evidence analysis, including serving as a witness in court proceedings.

Undertaking regular visits and supporting parents in developing parenting skills.

To be successful:
We are looking for a motivated, organised individual with the ability to understand factors contributing to child abuse, particularly in the context of child development, parenting, family, and environmental influences. This understanding should be confidently applied to your work and the decisions you make.

You must be a strong communicator with the ability to build effective networks with key professionals and families. Additionally, you should be able to apply culturally sensitive child protection practices, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Special Conditions
Essential:
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
