13 YARN Crisis Supporter provides culturally safe, high-quality crisis intervention and emotional support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait help seekers via 13 YARN Crisis Line. Following a particular framework (CARE) and guidelines to ensure individuals in distress receive confidential and culturally appropriate support.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Provide culturally responsive & professional support to help seekers, using the CARE framework and 13 YARN program guidelines, ensuring a culturally safe and respectful space, via 13 YARN phone service

Conduct culturally appropriate risk assessments and support individuals in managing any immediate safety concerns by identifying potential risks and working collaboratively to develop culturally informed plan for safety

Escalate all suspected imminent risk or child protection concerns as per protocols

Accurately document in CONNECT system and adhere to confidentiality of Help Seeker information

Meet annual accreditation and training requirements

Participate in team meetings, cultural supervision and professional activities

Maintain punctuality and reliability in shifts

Recognise when additional supervision or debriefing is required and seek support from supervisors to manage emotional wellbeing

Other duties as required

Please Note:

This roles requires flexible working hours. You must be prepared to work nights and/or weekday 6 am starts.

Must be available for initial training approx 13 weeks, blended via elearning and virtual face:face sessions, approx 13 hours per week. It is essential to pass this training before taking calls
