The Aboriginal Kinship Care program is a consortium between InComPro Aboriginal Association and Uniting Care Wesley Bowden.
The Aboriginal Kinship Care program, advocates for and supports both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal kinship carers who care for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children and young people who have been placed in their care by the Department for Child Protection. The Aboriginal Kinship Care program will ensure that carers are well supported to provide care that allows for children and young people to feel safe and supported so that they grow up well cared for, connected to Aboriginal culture, kin, identity and community and empowered to reach their full potential.
We are looking for an Aboriginal Kinship Care Support Worker whom will advocate and support the Kinship carers. You will have a child/young person focused approach, effectively maintain stakeholder relationships, and have exceptional communication skills with staff at all levels.
We're Looking for People With The Following Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Abilities:
• Minimum Cert IV or extensive relevant experience with willingness to obtain a Cert IV qualification relevant to the role
• Current driver’s licence and ability to drive pool vehicles.
• Experience in the out of home care sector
• Experience in working closely with Aboriginal families and communities
• Experience using the Winangay assessment tools is desirable, but not essential
• Previous Case management experience desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills (written and oral)
• Excellent organization and time management with the ability to prioritize effectively
• Ability to produce professional documents suited to the target audience
• Commitment to applying child safe and child focused practice to all tasks
• Current Working with Children’s Check
Essential Requirements:
Any offer of employment is subject to;
· A current and satisfactory National Criminal History Check
· A current and satisfactory NDIS Worker Check
· DHS working with Children’s Check.
· A current and unrestricted Australian Driver’s License and the ability and willingness to regularly drive in the course of your employment
· Travel throughout the region and/or interstate as required
