The Role
A Community Housing Tenancy Officer plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families to secure and maintain stable housing, particularly within social or community housing contexts. This position combines tenancy management with high-quality accommodation management services to address the diverse needs of clients, promoting independence and community integration.
The Tenancy Officer will perform accommodation management activities aligned with the Policy and Procedures of the Society's Community Housing Program, and the Northern Territory Residential Tenancy Act.
Key Responsibilities
Tenancy Management
Interview applicants to assess housing eligibility, manage expectations and collate all necessary documentation
Complete all tenancy documentation, including rent payment set up, leases, condition report, and other records as required
Conduct required inspections of accommodation to ensure tenancy standards are maintained
Maintain rent arrears
Allocate housing in line with organisational policy and procedure
Assist clients in understanding and fulfilling their tenancy obligations.
Support clients in completing necessary housing applications and documentation.
Assist individuals seeking permanent and stable community housing and community integration.
To be successful in this position; you will need to meet the following selection criteria:
Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in accommodation management, residential care facilities, tenancy management or residential casework.
Previous experience in housing support, case management, or a similar role is advantageous.
Knowledge: Familiarity with housing legislation, tenancy rights, and community resources.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work within the philosophy of the Society and in accordance with policy and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
Ensure National Police Check, Northern Territory driver’s license and Working with Children Clearance, are valid and a current copy is provided to head office to be kept on file
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (3 doses)
