Responsibilities
- Perform metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and fitting/turning to maintain and repair plant equipment.
- Quickly diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, ensuring timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections and complete maintenance checklists to identify and address potential equipment problems before they occur.
- Request spare parts and materials from the Engineering Manager to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards in production areas.
- Report any workplace health and safety concerns related to plant equipment to the Engineering Manager.
- Assist in engineering projects and develop skills in additional duties such as seaming mechanics.
- Learn and assist with additional duties as assigned, including understudying the Engineering Manager.
- Work as part of a team or independently, collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications
- Trade Certificate (Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade) or 2+ years of relevant experience in the FMCG industry.
- Proven experience in maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including welding and fitting/turning.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations within a production environment.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP principles.
- Flexible and approachable when dealing with stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
