About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on HR Business Partner to provide operational HR support across our national business. In this standalone role, you will work closely with leaders to manage the day-to-day HR activities, offering both reactive advice and proactive solutions to meet business needs.
This position has a strong focus on HR administration and will suit a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.
Purpose
To ensure that the day-to-day “people” functions are carried out smoothly and effectively. To lead the HR processes that are critical to the high performance of Marsden Jacob Associates. This role will work closely with our Corporate Functions Leadership Team (CFT) as well as our Director responsible for HR.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle.
Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity across HRIS and other systems.
Manage HR reporting, compliance tracking, and document management.
Recruitment, Onboarding, and Mobility
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including drafting job ads, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and issuing contracts.
Provide administrative support for employee mobility and immigration processes, working with external providers where necessary.
Oversee onboarding and induction processes to ensure a seamless experience for new hires.
Employee Relations
Support managers with basic employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, disciplinary processes, and grievances.
Provide advice on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
HR Programs & Cyclical Activities
Lead the administration of cyclical HR activities, including:
Employee engagement surveys.
Performance review cycles.
Remuneration and promotion reviews.
Prepare documentation, communications, and reports to support these activities.
Systems & Process Management
Administer and continuously improve HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) to streamline HR processes.
Ensure all HR documentation (templates, guides, forms) is up to date and accessible to the business.
Compliance and Risk
Ensure HR practices comply with Fair Work Act, visa and immigration laws, and company policies.
Assist with audits and reporting requirements related to HR and workforce compliance.
Skills and Experience
8+ years’ experience in an operational HR role, ideally within a standalone or generalist capacity.
Professional Services background would be favourable.
Strong understanding of Australian employment law and HR best practices.
Experience coordinating recruitment, immigration support, and cyclical HR programs.
High attention to detail with strong administrative and system management skills.
Ability to balance both transactional and advisory HR responsibilities.
Experience using HRIS & LMS systems (experience is highly regarded).
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work effectively with managers and employees at all levels.
Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused approach.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Additional Requirements
Must be either Melbourne or Sydney based and whilst a hybrid work arrangement, 3 days in office attendance is required.
Ability to travel interstate regularly.
