Objective of role

The Mechanic/Fitter is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Tasman Oil Tools' equipment, facilities, and plant. This role is focused on ensuring the reliability, safety, and compliance of diesel/petrol engines and associated mechanical systems used in oilfield operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in preventative and corrective maintenance, with a sound understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and fabrication systems typical to the energy or oil & gas industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Mechanical Equipment Maintenance & Repair

Perform inspections, fault diagnosis, and routine maintenance of diesel/petrol engines and mechanical systems across Tasman's fleet and equipment - pumps, tanker trailers, generators, mix units.

Maintenance of Tasman's operational plant and equipment - forklifts, heavy vehicles, trailers, light vehicles, loader, and compressors

Ensure all equipment is inspected and documented in accordance with Tasman's Quality Management System prior to mobilisation or upon return from hire.

Conduct repairs and modifications on engines, pumps, rolling plant, and other oilfield equipment.

Carry out basic welding or fabrication repairs as required.

B. Equipment Reporting & Documentation

Accurately record inspections, repairs, OEM/NHVS documentation, and any modifications made.

Ensure all maintenance activities align with Tasman's internal policies, safety standards, and OEM-recommended practices.

Prepare and maintain required documentation in line with Tasman's ISO 9001 Quality System and regulatory requirements.

C. Support & Field Services

Assist engineers or senior trades with the assembly, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and hydraulic/mechanical systems.

Respond to field maintenance inquiries via phone or email and provide technical support or remote troubleshooting.

Conduct site visits for equipment diagnosis and repairs as required (primarily within a few hours' drive of Chinchilla or Roma).
