About the Role:

Curtin University is seeking a Lecturer (ALB) or Senior Lecturer (ALC) in Social Work for two permanent positions: one full-time (1.0 FTE - ALB/ALC) and one part-time (0.6 FTE - ALB).

The ideal candidate will play a vital role in unit coordination, fieldwork, and teaching, as well as have relevant expertise and practical experience in social work.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Design and conduct engaging learning activities across various formats (online, face-to-face) to enhance student learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to innovate curriculum and develop effective learning materials, while assessing student needs and providing necessary support.
• Supervise honours and postgraduate students, maintaining awareness of current discipline practices and contributing to professional development in higher education.
• Manage administrative tasks related to course delivery, including assessment moderation, and ensure that curricular innovations accommodate diverse student needs for a successful university experience.

Selection Criteria – who we are looking for:

1. A doctoral qualification in Social Work (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
2. Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW).
3. Demonstrated high-level teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
4. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to social work.
5. An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
6. Demonstrated experience/capacity to undertake unit coordination.
7. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment.
8. Demonstrated ability to interact with staff and students with sensitivity to diversity and a commitment to inclusion.
9. Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

If you would like to be considered for an ALC level, please ensure that you also add the following criteria in addition to the above:

10. A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and learning with an emerging record of success in winning external grants to support teaching projects and initiatives.
11. An emerging record of peer reviewed publications in high quality journals.
12. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.

Role Requirements:

• As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
• Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.

**Please note, as per Curtin's 2022-2025 EBA, a 3.5% salary increase will also take effect on 20 June 2025.
