The opportunity

Vacenti is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Hotel Services Team in Full-time roles as Catering Assistant, Housekeeping Assistant, and Laundry Assistant at our exciting new site, Sorrento, located in Cleveland, QLD.

Reporting to and working closely with the Head Chef, Housekeeping Team Leader, Laundry Team Leader, and/or Facility Manager, these roles are vital in delivering outstanding service and care to our residents by supporting their daily lifestyle and wellbeing needs.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Catering Assistant

Carrying out basic food preparation, i.e., washing, peeling, dicing, cutting, grilling, roasting, and baking.

Provide basic food & beverage service as required.

Receiving deliveries from suppliers.

Assist with the setup & pack up of catering events.

Clearing waste & general cleaning including but not limited to crockery, cutlery, service utensils, kitchen surfaces according to hygiene standards.

Ensure health and safety practices are followed.

Operating machinery, such as mixers and blenders.

Assist in the managing and organising of inventory, in the storeroom and fridge, or where directed.

Ensuring Caterers and Chefs have the tools, food, and equipment they need.

Perform reasonable ad-hoc duties as directed.

Housekeeping Assistant

Ensure resident, and staff areas are clean and maintained to the Vacenti standard.

Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, wiping down surfaces, cleaning spills and other cleaning and clearing duties as directed.

Cleaning and sanitising of toilets, showers/bathtubs, countertops, sinks, and other bathroom, and kitchen areas. Cleaning mirrors and glass surfaces.

Waste collection and removal.

Operate all cleaning machinery appropriately, and in a safe manner. Ensure health and safety practices are followed.

Outside & project cleaning duties as required.

Ensure resident and company assets are cared for and treated respectfully and maintained appropriately.

Stripping beds and towels, changing sheets, cleaning draperies & blinds, tidying common areas and residents’ rooms, and other domestic assistance, as required.

Report all incidents, and any damage, deficits, or disturbances.

Assist with the setup & pack up of events.

Ensure all consumables and stock are used for the intended purpose only, used responsibility, and in line with Vacenti’s and manufacturers instruction.

Perform reasonable ad-hoc duties as directed.

Laundry Assistant

Collection of personals, linens, towels, and other textiles from facilities.

Washing / cleaning / treating, drying, hanging, folding, sorting of personals, linens, towels, and other textiles.

Prepare & sort laundry items for pickup, and delivery.

Operation of laundry machinery, using safe work practices.

Maintain cleanliness of laundry facilities.

Waste collection and removal.

Actively avoid any damage to, or loss of resident’s personal items.

Report all incidents, and any damage, deficits, or disturbances.

Ensure health and safety practices are followed.

Maintain consumables and stock and ensure that use is in line with Vacenti’s and manufacturers instruction.

Perform reasonable ad-hoc duties as directed.

To be successful in this position you will need:

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in catering and/or hospitality roles.

Reasonable level of spoken and written English literacy skills.

A personal philosophy of honesty and integrity, and practical approach that is compatible with the Vacenti values.

A positive team-based attitude.

Initiative and to be able to work independently.

The ability to work in a busy environment and have good time management skills.

Very high attention to detail with commitment to safe work practises.
