The Opportunity

Sestra People have once again partnered with a boutique Melbourne-based consultancy to recruit an Azure DevSecOps Engineer to support a long-term utilities client engagement. This is a permanent, full-time role, based in Melbourne with hybrid flexibility (roughly 2–3 days onsite).

This isn’t your typical DevSecOps gig. You’ll play a critical role in embedding cloud security into a complex Azure environment—shaping standards, guiding engineering teams, and working closely with client stakeholders to uplift maturity and ensure best practices. What You’ll Do

Design, implement and maintain secure Azure cloud environments aligned with the ISM Manual and Essential Eight

Integrate security practices into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) and infrastructure-as-code environments

Collaborate with developers and platform engineers to embed security into design, deployment, and monitoring processes

Build and manage tools that automate security validation, policy enforcement, and compliance reporting

Provide guidance on identity and access management best practices, with a working knowledge of Entra ID (Azure AD)

Engage with client stakeholders to assess risk, define controls, and champion cloud-native security practices

Help grow the consultancy’s security capability within the client environment through leadership and mentorship

About You

You bring deep expertise in Azure, with a strong grasp of cloud architecture, identity, networking, and platform security

You have hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tooling

You’re confident navigating security and compliance frameworks, particularly the ISM Manual and Essential Eight

You understand access and identity governance, with exposure to Entra ID (Azure AD) and role-based access controls

You’re a strong communicator who can turn technical challenges into clear, actionable solutions for business stakeholders

You take initiative, lead by example, and thrive in environments where trust and autonomy are given
