Position: Rear Lift Waste Driver

Reports to: Operations manager

Hours: 5-6 Days per week with opportunity to extend.

Location: Brisbane: Tennyson QLD

Purpose:

Brisbane’s fastest-growing waste management company. We are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth and looking for drivers to help support our operation.

Looking for a full time driver with the opportunity to increase hours.

Duties/Responsibilities

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Inspect truck prior to beginning routes to ensure safe operating conditions. Inspections include, but not limited to checking tyre pressures, checking operation of indicators/brake and tail lights/head lights/reverse beacon/flashing lights, checking oils and fluid levels and safe operation of each function. Consult with supervisor prior to undertaking any maintenance on the vehicle.
• Refuel the truck with appropriate fuel and add other necessary fluid, while inspecting truck before operation.
• Notify your supervisor and complete any reports for defective equipment.
• Operate automated or manual bin lifting devices that raise refuse wheelie bins and dump contents into openings in truck bodies.
• Visually inspect each bin for contamination and if found, report this contamination to supervisor via photo and location details.
• After emptying waste from wheelie bins. Replace bin liner where necessary. Replace locks on wheelie bins if applicable.
• Communicate with supervisor concerning delays, unsafe sites, accidents, equipment breakdowns, and other maintenance problems.
• Keep informed of road and weather conditions to determine how routes will be affected.
• Navigate short and safe ways to destinations, ensuring that timeliness is kept a priority.
• Empty bins into the garbage truck, ensuring that all wheelie bins are placed back in their proper positions, ensuring that the bin does not block the main entrance, road or door way.
• Responsible for ensuring waste contained within the vehicle is delivered to designated waste disposal location as directed by run sheet. Collect delivery receipt from designated waste disposal location.
• Upon completion of shift, return vehicle to depot in a suitable condition. If vehicle requires cleaning, complete upon direction of supervisor.
• Ensure that the proper safety gear is worn, to avoid injury and sicknesses. This safety gear includes and is not limited to steel capped boots, high vis (reflective) workwear, safety glasses and suitable gloves.
• Work with supervisors to provide on the job training to newly hired waste truck drivers, as part of their training initiatives.
• Follow all reasonable directions provided by supervisor and other managers within business.
