About the Recruitment and SES Unit

Recruitment Team - The Recruitment team are responsible for supporting the Commission to respond effectively to current and future workforce requirements. This is achieved by the development, implementation, regular review and reporting against the People & Culture Strategy and the Organisational Workforce plan function also manages all aspects of recruitment from job application to offers providing support to internal and external stakeholders and customising specific recruitment strategies to attract and engage high quality candidates with relevant skillsets.

SES Unit – The SES Unit are responsible for supporting the SES cohort with the provision of accurate and timely conditions of employment advice. The team manage a knowledge base, supporting documentation and templates to provide trusted and accurate advice to all SES enquiries. The Unit also coordinates all SES recruitment and prepares appropriate instruments and onboarding paperwork to ensure a seamless introduction to the Commission.

About the Roles

We are recruiting for two positions within the Recruitment and SES Unit for an Assistant Director, Recruitment (Operations) and Assistant Director, SES Unit.

The Assistant Director, Recruitment (Operations) will manage the end-to-end recruitment process across the Commission. This role will lead a team in the delivery of client focused recruitment advice and service, including providing clear and consistent communication and leading exemplary recruitment services and talent acquisition for the Commission.

The Assistant Director, SES Unit is responsible for leading the SES Unit in providing a high standard ‘VIP’ client focussed service to our SES Cohort.

Position Duties - Assistant Director, Recruitment (Operations)

  • Partner with the Hiring Managers to determine current/future recruitment needs; develop and implement appropriate talent acquisition and pipeline strategies to support the Commission’s recruitment activity.
  • Partner with People Business Partners to deliver \ lead recruitment planning workshops incorporating workforce planning strategies to enhance a robust recruitment plan.
  • Manage all stages of the recruitment life cycle including drafting job descriptions, advertising, coordinating the candidate process and extending offers, whilst ensuring excellent candidate care in line with the Commission’s operational and strategic objectives.
  • Lead a team in the delivery of client focused recruitment advice and service, including providing clear and consistent communication, managing performance, setting work priorities and managing workflows.
  • Lead a small recruitment team supporting their professional and personal development including key outcomes and performance development plans.
  • Accurately complete work within timeframes and quality requirements while sharing own expertise with others to guide and develop staff members.
  • Coach and support Hiring Managers through overall recruitment processes including workforce management.
  • Manage the recruitment policies, procedures and relevant documentation to ensure continuous business improvement.
  • Manage monthly workforce reports as required and develop action plans with managers to address key issues arising from these reports.
  • Coordinate business improvements within the recruitment system (Acendre) leading stakeholder management and contract\procurement processes.

Position Duties - Assistant Director, SES Unit

  • Lead a small team in providing a high standard ‘VIP’ client focussed service delivery to the Commissions SES cohort, as well as providing clear and consistent communication, managing team performance, setting work priorities and managing workflows.
  • Manage and oversee end-to-end SES Recruitment and Onboarding activities including.
  • procurement of executive recruitment agencies, engagements, transfers and higher duties.
  • Ensure the seamless onboarding of all new SES engagements.
  • Provide guidance to SES employees (and their support staff) for matters relating to their own employment, ensuring information is accurate and current.
  • Draft and coordinate relevant ELG, NLG and All Staff e-mail communications, in consultation with internal communications and Commissioners office.
  • Lead the development and ongoing review of documented process maps, procedural instructions and relevant templates.
  • Manage, develop and support the SES policies, procedures and relevant documentation to ensure continuous business improvement.
  • Manage SES Reporting requirements, including providing input into relevant Questions on Notice.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely responses for all SES matters, escalating and briefing as appropriate.
  • Deliver a professional service for internal and external stakeholders.

Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria) - Assistant Director, Recruitment (Operations)

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource or similar discipline
  • Experience in managing recruitment in a public service environment
  • Demonstrated experience within a high-volume recruitment environment
  • Demonstrated experience as Super User Admin in Acendre recruitment system
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to develop and nurture a cohesive, high performing team
  • Excellent high-level stakeholder management and ability to effectively manage and interface with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience recruiting across a variety of corporate skillsets at a variety of levels
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and adept time management skills
  • Ability to leverage data to inform, headcount, hiring timeframes, and resourcing decisions
  • Proven track record in providing hands on specialist, professional and technical expertise in recruitment management and its function
  • Proven ability to anticipate and establish priorities, monitor progress and work to deliver required corporate outcomes within set timeframes
  • Knowledge of and experience in general employment law and HR best practice (desirable).

Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria) - Assistant Director, SES Unit

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource or previous experience in a similar discipline
  • Experience in managing SES Unit in a public service environment
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship building and change management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting, applying and advising on HR legislation, policy and procedure and HR best practice whilst demonstrating a commitment to ongoing continuous business improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, exercise sound judgment and convert strategies into clearly articulated action plans to achieve positive outcomes
  • Highly development written and verbal communication skills including the ability to influence confidently
  • Strong planning, preparation and attention to detail.

Position Notes:

  • Salary offered will be between $118,588 - $135,251 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
