Campus Operations & Services provides the highest quality facility management services to support the teaching, research, and commercial activities for Murdoch University. It oversees maintenance and strategic asset management planning for the University for the short, medium, and longer term.
Security Services primary functions include:
- The protection of all people within the University, including staff, students, contractors and visitors.
- The protection of property.
- The prevention and detection of crime.
- Acting as initial first responders to incidents and emergencies on campus.
Your New Role!
The Security Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the University community and protection of its property and assets. Operating Monday to Friday, midnight to 8am, the role provides security control room coordination, including incident response and escalation, supervision of the on-duty security officers, implementation of security operating procedures and emergency management guidelines, and performs the role of Chief Warden.
Your key responsibilities will include -
- Providing proactive leadership and supervision of the rostered on-duty Security Officers to ensure that both scheduled and unplanned security requirements are delivered in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Within a control room environment, efficiently coordinate the monitoring of security systems including CCTV and electronic access control, and timely responses to alarm activations, calls, breach of behaviour, incidents and suspicious activity.
- Manage the recording of events and log activity that occur on shift, including drafting incident reports for management review and investigation.
- Conduct detailed handovers at the beginning and end of each shift, including effective completion of assigned tasks from Security Management.
- Coordinate incident and emergency responses in line with the University Critical Incident Management Plan and Security Operating Procedures.

This Continuous | Full Time position attracts a remuneration of $70,000 - $77,000 (night shift penalties applicable) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

Selection Criteria:
- Completion of a Certificate II or III Security with a current and valid Security License or equivalent competency.
- Substantial relevant security experience in a large and complex organisation, as well as coordinating emergency response services.
- Ability to effectively supervise and instruct staff and contractor employees.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and work productively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products and security systems.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with people at all levels and backgrounds.
- Current "C" Class Driver's License.
- The suitable applicant will be required to complete a fitness assessment and maintain an appropriate level of fitness for the physical standards and efficient performance required of this position.
