About the role
This position is responsible for providing group interventions and case management for men who have perpetrated family violence, addressing anger management and cultural healing. The Men’s FV group work facilitator will deliver Group Work Programs for male family violence perpetrators, applying sound theoretical and practical expertise addressing accountability and behavioural change. The worker will collaborate with Aboriginal communities and families, enhance referral pathways, and support the leadership and identity development of young Aboriginal men.
About You
- Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
- Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities
- Understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence for Aboriginal families
- Experience and ability to work with Aboriginal organisations and communities and a proven ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal Men and their families
- A demonstrated understanding of the men's behaviour changes process and the gendered nature of family violence
- Sound knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, Information Sharing and Multi Agency Risk Assessment Framework (MARAM).
- Demonstrated understanding of culturally appropriate service responses for Aboriginal clients.
- Ability to provide a flexible service delivery model, including after-hours support, outreach and wraparound services and community supports and outcomes for Aboriginal men
- Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
