At Tenacious House, part of Richmind WA, we support men navigating mental health challenges and life-controlling issues to rebuild their lives. We’re looking for a committed and compassionate Registered Nurse – Mental Health to provide expert clinical care, contribute to care plans, and work in partnership with a dedicated team to deliver lasting recovery outcomes.

About the Role

As the on-site Mental Health Nurse at Tenacious House, you'll bring your clinical expertise to support residents with complex mental health needs. From intake assessments and medication management to health promotion and community referrals, your role is pivotal in delivering holistic, person-centred care.

This is more than a nursing role — it's an opportunity to walk alongside people on their recovery journey and help shape a culture of support, safety, and reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments including risk assessments*
  • Supporting with AOD withdrawal alongside the team at Tenacious House
  • Develop and implement care plans, including psychosocial interventions
  • Monitor and manage medications, liaising with GPs and AOD specialists
  • Deliver mental health evidence-based nursing support and collaborate with support staff
  • Provide education about Mental Health and referrals to external mental health services
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation
  • Contribute to service improvement and clinical standards
  • Maintain AHPRA registration and continuous professional development
About Tenacious House

Tenacious House provides mental health support and professional care services in the northern suburbs of Perth, to help men conquer life-controlling issues and re-integrate with society.

The strength of Tenacious House derives from a growing community of like-minded people, with a desire to help those in need through a long-term, sustainable journey of recovery.

Originally established as a social impact initiative of Globalheart Church in Joondalup, Tenacious House is a public benevolent activity of Northern Compassion Inc., which has been providing mental health support and rehabilitation services since 2014.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need to have;

Qualifications and Certificates

  • Approved tertiary qualification in Nursing.
  • Current and ongoing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possession of or progression towards a relevant post-graduate qualification in Mental Health and/or Addictions is desirable
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than six months)
  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • A current working with Children Check
  • A valid Driver’s licence

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a mental health setting
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting clinical assessments, risk assessment and developing comprehensive care plans within the mental health, alcohol and other drugs practice setting.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drug withdrawal symptoms, and the treatment and care of people withdrawing from alcohol and other drugs.
  • Knowledge of current psychiatric medications and medication management.
  • Understanding and ability to apply recovery principles when supporting consumers.
  • Well-developed skills in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work autonomously, and in an operational team.
  • Proficient in navigating and utilising client databases and using applications such as Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as family members of people with a lived experience of recovery is desirable

Attitude

  • Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental health/addiction issues.

  • Pro-active individual who is enthusiastic and committed to upholding Richmind WA and Tenacious House values and principles

This role is part-time offering 2 days per week at Tenacious House.
